Last weekend we went to our favorite place in Frederick – the most fall-scented of them all. And did we come home empty handed? Of course not.
As I’ve been accused of waxing poetic about a few posts ago, Distillery Lane has held a big place in our hearts for going on five years now. We found it first when we were just starting to date and Martin was trying to lure me out to Frederick with grand promises of brick houses and breweries and mountains. I’m guessing you can tell how that ended up, you clever person you.
Frederick felt so much like home that I just had to stay. What else was there to do?
The orchard is every bit as colorful and cider-smelling as you’d imagine it might be.
Masks, of course, are required, and the tasting room is temporarily closed – but don’t worry, they’ve added a fantastically crisp draft-only cider to make up for it.
We tasted it copiously – for science, of course.
If you’re looking for something special, we’d recommend their la Mela della Notte – or “The Night Apple.” A pommeau-style cider that’s perfect for sipping or with cheese, though you’ll have to find the perfect one on your own. We can’t do all the hard work around here, you know.
How could you not be happy somewhere like this?
We explored, cider tasted, and weighed down with apples, happily made our way home.
If you’d like to visit, their fall hours are 12-5 every Saturday and Sunday. You can find more details on their site.
Happiest of weekends to you all!
